 Purchased Dixie Airlines in 1972 and name changed to SkyWest Airlines. Acquired Sun Aire Lines in 1984.  SkyWest is one of two airlines owned by SkyWest, Inc. The other airline is ExpressJet Airlines. On  August 15, 2005, Delta Airlines, which owned ASA announced that it was selling  Atlantic Southeast Airlines to the newly incorporated SkyWest, Inc. and on September 8, 2005  the acquisition had been completed. On August 4, 2010  SkyWest Inc., announced that Atlantic Southeast Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines would be merged.The merger was closed on November 12, 2010. ASA and ExpressJet received a single operating certificate on December  31, 2011. The airline flies as a regional airline for United Airlines, US Airways, Delta Airlines and American Airlines. ExpressJet is the name of the new regional airline and the headquarters would be in Atlanta, GA.
